Lakes and bakes

This week we opened the glasshouse, welcomed back the Dragons from the far off land of the Lake District, and ate biscuits made in the new Shire's kitchen.

The Dragons returned from an eventful residential in the Lake District, where they were able to cover many areas of learning within the 'we are storytellers' topic in different locations. They investigated land use, geography, history with the Vikings and Victorians, tourism in the town of Keswick.

The Dragons learnt how pencils were made, how children their age worked in the slate mines 150 years ago. They investigated and measured river flow, depth and width and climbed mountains.

The Dragons investigated tourism in the town of Keswick.

They enjoyed a boat trip and open top bus and visited the Beatrix Potter nature trail and expended energy on the tree top nets.

The children were a credit to the school with their behaviour and participation.

The Wizards

The Wizards have been gathering information from other children across the school ready for their first parliament.

The Shire

Some of the Pixies, Elves and Griffins went out and about on a trip to the park. They walked as Beatrix Potter would have, with their hands behind their backs. They covered geography and maths topics and went on the swings, slides and net.

Meanwhile, the remaining Shire baked biscuits for the trip returners in their new kitchen facilities.

The biscuits were enjoyed by the rest of the shire and parents at the glasshouse opening.
